Task 1: Web page
Process in creating a website
· This tutorial includes basic instructions on how to create a website using the Google application of Sites.
· Sites can be located by using the URL Sites.Google.com or by accessing the icon through the Google waffle.
· Once you are in the Sites application you can either start a new blank website or choose from the templates provided. For our purposes choose a new blank file.
· You are now ready to begin.
1. Naming your new site in the top left corner will be your first step. This should be fairly short and apply to the overall concept of your site.
2. Second, you will want to choose a theme. On the right side of the screen there is a menu bar. This includes Insert, Pages, and Themes. After choosing Themes you can scroll down to select an option. Once you have made your selection you may change the color and font from the theme.
3. This will automatically apply to you site. If you scroll over applied header, options for changing your background image, text, and header type will appear. You may either upload an image from your computer or select one from your Google account.
4. By double clicking on the text a menu bar will appear, allying you to adjust the text as you would like.
5. Next, you will want to click on the Insert option in the top right menu. This reveals the options to change other aspects of your page. You may insert additional text boxes or images, as well as embed content with a URL or embed code. You can also embed content from your Google Drive.
6. Under these options are a number of selections that can help you set up the layout of your page. Following the page layouts is a list of navigational choices, including the addition of content from other Google applications such as forms, sheets, and slides.
7. Sites divides your page into sections. You may choose different content for different section, or you can include content in the same section by grabbing and moving the content to the section you desire. When you scroll over a section a menu will also appear at the left. This allows you to change the format, duplicate, or delete the section.
8. Once your home page is how you want it (you can always go back and make changes), you can now add additional pages that you can navigate to. At this point you will want to click on the Pages option in the top right menu. By scrolling over the + sign at the bottom right a menu will appear. If you click sites will add an additional page.
9. A dialog box will appear asking you to name your new page. The new page will contain the content changes you made to the header and the new title. You can then adjust the content to your new page using the insert tab.
10. The menu bar at the top of your new site will now show a menu option as well as your additional page. Multiple pages may be added. You will notice these pages listed under the pages tab. From there you can drag your pages into the order you would like them to be listed in the menu. Multiple options are also available by clicking the three dots next to the title of each page in the right menu.
