Task 3: Multimedia
GHM1 Task 3: Multimedia
The process I followed to complete my project
The purpose of my multimedia project was to provide the lecture information on enzymes to those students who were absent or felt they needed additional support on the concept. The target audience for this video is my high school Biology students. These students consist of mostly of high school sophomores with a few upper classmen.
For this project I first assembled the side show presentation using Google Slides. My conceptual framework storyboard is included as image A.

This conceptual framework storyboard helped me map out the information that I wanted to include in the presentation. This allowed me to determine what information was relevant as directed by my essential standards. After the key concepts and examples were determined, I then determined what my script would be. Although I did not fully write the script before filming, I knew what information I wanted to give. This Slide presentation was also given in class, so I was already familiar with the direction I wanted to go.
In putting together the Slides presentation, I chose a blank document. I then changed the background to a color I liked and applied it to the whole presentation. I then inserted images on each slide that represented the information I had mapped out. I then added text boxes to include headers or notes to clarify the images.
When the slide presentation was complete, I used Screencastify extension on Chrome to record my multimedia video. Screencastify is a computer screen and camera recording application. I felt that this program would work well for my needs. I had used Loom in the past. However, my School District has felt Screencastify has better editing capabilities. This also means I already had a license for the app.
Once Screencastify had been added, an icon was displayed in the top right menu. Screencastify needs to be granted access to your computer’s camera and microphone. To begin filming I clicked the Screencastify icon. This brought up a window asking the format I would like to use. I determined that I would like the presentation to fill the screen with my image as an insert. The app counts down for you to begin. I then discussed the slides and information I had determined that I would include. When I was finished, I clicked the stop recording icon at the top. This immediately took me to the editing window. This took me several takes, because I am a beginner. However, the editing tools allowed me to crop out sections where I had stumbled over my wording. When I had completed the editing, I then saved it to my Google Drive. From there I could download it to my computer. Followed by uploading it to YouTube.
